Description: Officer Simpson drowned while attempting to rescue a 13- year-old boy who had chased his dog into the Pacific Ocean. Officer Simpson and Chief McBride were in a patrol car and answered the rescue call. Chief McBride held the rope while Officer Simpson went into the water. Officer Simpson was swept into the ocean's choppy water. His body was recovered hours later by an emergency rescue team.
